Description
In the heart of the Val d'Orcia, for sale is a new and elegant B&B housed in a typical Tuscan stone farmhouse that has been completely renovated, just a stone's throw from Pienza the ideal city of the Renaissance, home of Pope Pius II.
The Podere was built in the 1930s as a farmhouse for the sharecroppers of the Origo Family, designed by Architect Pinsent.
It housed a large family of farmers who worked the lands of the Val d'Orcia.
According to the indications of the ancient Leopoldine land register, the land on which it stands was owned by Pope Piccolomini; in recent years, with the fall of the sharecropping system, the farmhouse was abandoned. Until it was rediscovered and renovated in 2018 to be transformed into a stone and brick building into a place of hospitality, rest and beauty.
The renovation work was carried out both inside and outside, with fine finishes and careful attention to the choice of building materials, from stone to old roof tiles and aimattoni.
Thanks to the renovation, the historic features (exposed wooden beams, terracotta floors, parquet and Tuscan travertine) have been enhanced, without sacrificing comfort: large breakfast room, custom-made closets, soundproofing, air conditioning, mosquito nets and large bathrooms.
The old rustic building has also been secured with new foundations and earthquake-resistant techniques. The structure is spread over two levels for a total area of 500 square meters.
Externally on the lush garden that surrounds the farm, with deckchairs, tables and chairs from which you can enjoy picturesque sunsets while sipping a good glass of wine we find the depedance, the garage and the technical rooms perfectly inserted in the landscape context.
